Introduction

A grade II listed building, built by the Eyre Family in the early 1600s, first registered as a public house in 1753, the inn took it’s name from the Eyre Family who owned much of the surrounding land. These origins are evident in the huge coat of arms painted above the carved stone fireplace.

A traditional pub/restaurant serving the best in fresh food and hand pulled real ales in a relaxed cosy atmosphere. The menu is unpretentious, seeking to satisfy every customer from the person wanting a sandwich or lunchtime snack, to those wanting something more substantial like Rabbit pie.

Also in keeping with the inn’s history Venison features in the menu (apparently Wm Eyre was once officially in charge of keeping the King’s venison)

Whether it’s a quick snack that you want or a relaxing 3 course luncheon or evening meal there’s plenty to choose from, Lynne and Mark cater for everyone, so you won’t be disappointed.

With a choice of three cosy rooms to choose from including the  lounge bar (containing pictures of the Cavalier ghost),The Snug and The Old Tap Room retaining a traditional atmosphere with an array of interesting old maps, antiques, open log fires and Lepper Shelf. Popular with locals and visitors, the bar has earned a widespread reputation for excellent hand drawn real ales.

The Beer garden is open all year offering a tranquil area in which to enjoy the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, with the water fountain gently cascading beside you.
